Today was a bad day financially. My car developed a problem with
the rear suspension whilst on my way to pick up the missus from work. I
parked the car in the middle of town, (Manchester that is!), to go
and pay some cash into our joint account to stop it going over its
overdraft limit and incurring more charges. However, due to the
sprog throwing a bit of a wobbler and the fault with the car
playing on my mind, I forgot to get a ticket to put on the windscreen.
As I left the bank after paying in the money, I realised I hadn't put a
ticket on and ran back to the car to get one. Unfortunately I was too
late, as the traffic wardens had already given me a ticket. I have to
say that £60 just for genuinely forgetting to get a ticket seems
a bit steep! I paid the ticket online as soon as I got home which
saves you £30, (i.e. you only have to pay £30), and I
suppose I saved the cost of parking which would have been £2.20,
so I can at least comfort myself with the fact that my possible losses
of £60 have been reduced to £27.80, but that's still
£27.80 that could have gone towards paying off my debt!
I took the car to the garage today but it was shut so I'll have to wait until Monday to see how much that's going to cost me.
Earlier in the day yesterday, I was in town again dropping the missus
off in work and having a haircut, £28 for the haircut, (I must be
nuts paying that much for a haircut, but my reasoning is that I feel so
cr*p about the rest of my life that at least I can look half decent!),
and £2.20 to park the car, (I remembered the ticket that time!)
So today's total is money spent £60.80, money earned/saved £0.00
